RESURGENCE ANTI-RACISM STATEMENT

Resurgence Supporters Group Inc. is committed to being actively anti-racist, anti-fascist, and opposing all forms of discrimination in our club, league, and city. We oppose racism, sexism, homophobia, anti-trans bigotry, and all forms of oppression.

We condemn police brutality, the killing of black and brown people, and the inequities that black and brown people face at the hands of law enforcement and vigilantes. We support the modern civil rights movement known as Black Lives Matter.

Racism is the belief that race is a factor in individual achievement and that one race is superior to other races, used to marginalize or oppress people of other races. In the United States, this includes the normalization and legitimization of systems that routinely advantage white people while delivering adverse outcomes for people of color. It is a system of hierarchy and inequity characterized by white supremacy – systemic preferential treatment, privilege, and power for white people at the expense of other, racially oppressed people.

Fascism is an ultra-nationalist ideology that mobilizes around and glorifies a national or perceived racial identity. Fascism uses violence or threats of violence to impose its views and is marked by hostility towards reason, hostility towards human solidarity, and the dehumanization and scapegoating of marginalized groups, such as through anti-Semitism and racism.

As an organization, we are committed to be part of the conversation and to act in a way that reflects and encourages a culture based on respect, dignity, and inclusion, and rejects racism, fascism, homophobia, and all forms of oppression and bigotry. We expect to be held to and judged by both our words and our actions. We recognize that statements are meaningful, but that change is a result of purposeful actions.
